Douglas A-1 Skyraider at Pleiku, Vietnam 1967
In an era of jet fighters the propeller-driven piston-powered Douglas A-1 Skyraider had a remarkably long and successful history serving between the late 1940's and into the early 1980's. It saw service in the Navy, Marine Corp and Air Force and its ability to fly low and slow was a savior to many a grunt under siege by the enemy. Tom Bigelow photo.
