1725-1740 Italian linen dress at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York - I will be honest in saying that I know next to nothing about 18th century clothing outside of Britain, France or the North American colonies. So this piece from Italy is one that intrigues me a good deal, simply because I don't know anything on it. The embroidery and how it's positioned looks nothing like what I've seen before, but is this a regional style or standard for 18th century Italy? Any ideas?
