Fourth Grade Lesson Wayne Thiebaud
The fourth grade have been working on creating a Wayne Theibaud inspired drawing. Thinking about his cake and pie paintings the students learned to use 3D forms to create and draw an ice cream sundae. Then using markers the ice cream part was colored in completely, but the sundae glass was just outlined with grey watercolor crayola markers. I introduced Pablo Picasso by reading the book Picasso which is part of the series of books for children called Getting to Know the World's Greatest Artists. We learned that Picasso tried many different styles of art. For our project, we started with a Picasso-like face made out of construction paper - one where you can see the profile at the same time as the front.
