Time word problems
Your students will love this scavenger hunt. Let them work individually or in pairs to find the problems around you room. The problems involve finding elapsed time, adding time intervals, subtracting time intervals, etc. I have my students use a time line or number line to solve the problems, but the record sheet is open ended to fit any other strategies you may have. These hands-on ideas and telling time activities for first, second, and even third graders make what can sometimes be a daunting task easy and fun! Students read and write the time with high engagement games and lessons centered around a popular song and telling time anchor chart. Ideal for teaching 1st, 2nd, and 3rd graders to tell time to the hour/half hour, quarter hour and to the minute. This post also includes a FREE telling time game for kids!
