This quote accurately describes Lear's feelings towards Cordelia. He banished Cordelia and disowned her then realized in the end that he truly loved her and she truly loved him as a daughter should. No more, no less. Words can not always fix a problem and once you break the trust you can't ever fully repair the bond that was broken. It is hard to take responsibility for your actions but it is even harder to forgive.
