In captivity, I believe they where taken by customs. So they probably can't be released, which is a shame as these majestic animals should soar through the sky.
The Steller's Sea Eagle, Haliaeetus pelagicus, is a large bird of prey in the family Accipitridae. Steller's Sea Eagle breeds on the Kamchatka Peninsula, the coastal area around the Sea of Okhotsk, the lower reaches of the Amur river and on northern Sakhalin and the Shantar Islands, Russia. Edinburgh Zoo currently has two Steller’s sea eagles, a female called Orlan and a male called Caspian. They were hatched in other collections in 2003 and 2004 respectively and have been at Edinburgh since 2004.
