Olongapo City, Philippines - The most common and accepted folklore story where the name of the city, Olongapo was derived, was from the phrase “ULO NG APO” or, Head of the Chieftain. “APO” is said to be a well respected and admired leader who offered his life to the “anitos” in the hope of saving the village from a curse, a plague annihilating its people.
