BART train car mockup (1964) We've seen the railroad-style "BAY AREA RAPID TRANSIT" lettering along the bottom and the first iteration of the "ba" logo before. New to me, though, are the additional vertical "BARTD" logo on the cab, just in front of the horizontal stripes, replaced on the full-scale prototype by the car number, and the vertical dividers in the interior with images of what I think are a cable car, a suspension bridge, and San Francisco City Hall. The first section of the four-mile underwater tunnel, the longest in the world at the time, seen in 1966. The section displaced 10,000 tons and was made by the Bethlehem Steel Corp. - BART also allowed pedestrians to walk under the bay on a special day. The first revenue passenger train made the first trip at 7:00 a.m. on Sept. 16, 1974. For the record, it was Train 101 running on the Fremont line.
