Being a self proclaimed perfectionist it is often easy to get caught up in it all and forget that there really is no such thing as perfection. It is always good to strive for the best, but when it interferes with how you treat yourself and others - you need to re-examine how much this "perfection" is really worth.

I work in psychiatry and was sitting in on a session with a psychiatrist and a patient who was recently d&d'd by a narcissist. The psychiatrist said something that really rang true. She said to the patient "Abusive men have a distorted view of reality. Even if they are given the best toy in the world they will break it. It has nothing to do with you."
