A flat character is a minor character who barely goes through any significant changes and doesn't really affect the story too much. For example, a feeble servant who works for a powerful king and he doesn't undergo a certain change, stays the same throughout the story, his/her actions don't affect the plot, and is barely mentioned in the story. I love the idea of students having their very own sight word boxes. It's neat that they are able to read through them every day and when they can read it five times they have "mastered" the word and they can throw it away. Interesting idea...
