The eighteenth century monied male was often a peacock, eager to display his taste and wealth, and fond of lavishly decorated or patterned fabrics, and bright striking colours. The usual outfit remained the three piece suit of coat, waistcoat and breeches 18th Century Dress, 18th Century Costume, 18th Century Clothing, 18th Century Fashion, 17th Century, Historical Costume, Historical Clothing, Rococo Fashion, Gothic Fashion

Men's Fashion from the 18th Century Part 1

I have always been fascinated by men's suiting from the 18th Century. I can not wear any of it, since I am not a man and don't live in the 18th century, but I do love the look of it. To me, the 18th century was really the last time that men could dress as beautifully as women. Men's clothing during the 18th century was ornate, elegant and embroidered just as much as women's were. 1780s Court dress of Empress Maria Fyodorovna (State Hermitage Museum - St. Petersburg Russia) | Grand Ladies

Maria Feodorovna appears to like stripes. This dress lacks panniers and could even be compared to a dress from the early 1900s, save for the lack of a pouter pigeon bodice. The dress has a stomacher section, though not a stomacher, that matches the under-skirt while the rest of the bodice matches the over-skirt.

Object: Farm labourer's clothing (clothing)

These rare surviving examples of early 18th century work clothes were found stuffed up a chimney in Toft monks, Norfolk. It is uncertain whether the clothes were placed up the chimney to stop draughts or as a ritual protection against evil. Clothing was continually repaired and recycled, therefore remaining examples of this type are incredibly rare .
